Millbrook Model Mariners are a group of local model boat enthusiasts based in Southeast Cornwall.
The club began back in 2009 when a gathering of local R/C modellers met by chance at Millbrook Lake and decided to meet regularly to share ideas and sail. In the same year the group exhibited at Liskeard Show and in 2010 the club was founded.
The club have exhibited at locations all over Devon & Cornwall since 2010 and have also held their own open days and exhibitions.
Sailing normally takes place every Sunday morning around10am and lasts untill the batteries run flat or the wind stops blowing! They also meet on Wednesday evenings during the summer months for a evening sail.
The club sail a variety of different vessels including tugs, military craft, fishing boats, yachts and powerboats (although no I/C craft are permitted on the lake).
The lake is of brackish water but spans over 1200ft in length and nearly 500ft across, and the club is conveniently placed along a nature walk making it an ideal location for model enthusiasts and their families.
Millbrook Model Mariners are a friendly club with very few rules who encourage novices to join in and take part and most importantly, have fun!
